-----Intro------
----------------

Thanks for downloading this quest for your Zelda Classic! This is my 2nd quest; my first was End of Time. Since I got positive feedback from it, I expect you'll like this quest, too. The quest starts you out in Narajo Town, Link's home village. He vows to destroy the source that is uprooting parts of Hyrule, causing mountains to rise and magma to flow to the surface.

Before his exciting adventure will unfold, he needs something to fend himself off with. His mother gives him his ancestor's shield and some Rupees to start. He steps out his house, and this is where the story begins...

----Updates----- ~note: this version is likely the final LttH update
----------------

Version 1.2.7 - More than a year since an update, eh? Fixed a few things, really.... Nothing big. I changed a few doors from passage to shutter in various locations, such as the grotto in the SW area of Lake Hylia. Also, you now hold up bombs when you pick them up in shops or chests. (9/15/09 until present)

Version 1.2.6 - First new update in a long time! Fixed a typo in a string and a tile solidity issue. That's all. (7/31/08 until 9/15/09)

Version 1.2.5 - Not much. I fixed a typo and added those colorful crystals to Hestone Mountain. I may have done something else, but I forget. :p (3/28/08 until 7/31/08)

Version 1.2.4 - I merely fixed a couple very minor bugs. Nothing to worry about. (2/20/08 until 3/28/08)

Version 1.2.3 - I just completely revamped the timed event in Level 8. It shouldn't give anyone any problems anymore. (2/15/08 until 2/20/08)

Version 1.2.2 - I added more time to two timed events in Levels 8 and 9, and I made the Zora's Training Ground slightly easier. (1/28/08 until 2/15/08)

Version 1.2.1 - This version is no different if you're using ZC 2.10 to play. (1/22/08 until 1/28/08)

Version 1.2.0 - Fixed a bug that would not allow you to view the area unlocked after the final boss (which existed in version 1.1.0 only)! I also fixed another bug (which existed in versions 1.0.2 through 1.1.0). (1/11/08 until 1/22/08)

Version 1.1.0 - My first big update. I added each level's name to each dungeon's subscreen map. I also lengthened Level 8 and the final boss a little bit, and I threw in a few minor bug fixes, too. If you believe the final boss is too difficult, blame russadwan. :p (1/3/08 until 1/11/08)

Version 1.0.2 - Fixed a few even more minor bugs. I also added a shadow to the part of the mountain that you can go under in the Volcanic Wasteland. (12/22/07 until 1/3/08)

Version 1.0.1 - Fixed a few very, very minor bugs. I also made a few minor tweaks to the Zora Training Ground. (12/21/07 until 12/22/07)

Version 1.0 - First version. (12/9/07 until 12/21/07)

   ---Bug Fixes---
   ---------------

====Version 1.2.7====

In Level C, a random floor trim tile would appear after completing a puzzle in a room. Found by myself.

Level 4 had a wall tile error in the room with the block puzzle. Found by myself.

ZC 2.5 b1057's trigger detection system is wonky... I tried to fix a few instances where triggers wouldn't act the way that was intended. If you're using 2.10 to play, however, do not worry about this.

I overlooked the "Bomb Hold Fix" quest rule, which is now checked. This means Link will, as he should, hold up bombs when bought in a shop or found in a chest.

====Version 1.2.6====

I misspelled "convenience" in a string, again, if you'd even call this a bug. :p Found by myself.

Fixed a tile solidity issue on the lake/graveyard border.

====Version 1.2.5====

I misspelled "availability" in a string, if this is even a bug. Fixed. Found by myself.

====Version 1.2.4====

There was a swamp plant set to overhead rather than on layer 1 or 2. Found by myself.

You could get stuck in a leg of Level 8 (the part added in update 1.1.0). Found by myself.

Typo in credits! Sorry, Rexlaninetales! Found by myself.

====Version 1.2.3====

Fixed a minor tile error in Level C. Found by myself.

====Version 1.2.2====

(None)

====Version 1.2.1====

Fixed a 2.5 compatibility bug that wouldn't exist if people would use the correct version...

====Version 1.2.0====

Fixed a shadow graphic error that existed in only version 1.0.2 and later. Found by Dan Furst.

Fixed a DMap error that would not allow you to enter the area unlocked after the final boss in version 1.1.0 only. This huge glitch is fixed. Found by myself.

====Version 1.1.0====

Fixed some typos/misspellings in this text file. :D

You could walk on lava in the map room in Level 9. Found by Akkabus.

This isn't really a bug, but you could get "stuck" in Level 7 if you ran out of magic at one point. I added a chest with a magic refill jar and a few Bats (since they often drop magic). Found by Akkabus.

Before, you could inadvertently fall onto a trigger in the cave system in the Snowy Plateau. Found by myself.

====Version 1.0.2====

You could walk on a tree when side warping from the Graveyard to Lake Hylia. Found by Dan Furst.

Minor wall tile inconsistency in Level 9. Found by Dan Furst.

====Version 1.0.1====

You could walk on a tree in Narajo Town. Not anymore. Found by elise.

Fixed a bug in which you could get stuck on one very specific tile in one room of Level 3 after getting swallowed by a Like Like. Found by Dan Furst.

Fixed a bug in Level 7 in which you could get stuck by falling from the boss room to the room below. Found by Dan Furst.

Fixed a bug in the end boss in which you could use the ladder on a tile that you are not supposed to. Found by elise.

   -Known "Bugs"--
   ---------------

Don't worry, there shouldn't be any game-risking bugs. If there ARE any bugs, they are inconveniences.

The MIDIs, on my machine, sometimes mess up. Some instruments may get very quiet, being difficult to hear those tracks. Because this is recognized, it may happen for you. The bug, however, is not permanent, and will disappear by resetting your computer or closing ZC. This bug is beyond my control. Some MIDIs mess up more frequently than others: Hyrule Field (not too often) and Snowy Plateau (once in a while). I THINK it's the cave MIDI that's causing the problem... but I'm not sure. I did my very best, however, to eliminate this bug.

Though not a bug, once you choose a quest to continue playing, the layers may not appear until the intro screen has fully opened. Really, no big deal at all. This sometimes happens on all quests when you first fire up Zelda Classic.

ZC may crash during cut scenes if you are playing in windowed mode. If you can, I suggest you play in fullscreen mode.

(1)

Please note that once you've fully entered a main dungeon, all keys needed within the dungeon will be found WITHIN the dungeon. Never will you need to go to a completely new or different overworld area in order to continue through the dungeon.

Slight spoiler warning (next paragraph only):

For example, you need to find 3 keys around the world of Hyrule in order to fully enter Level 5. However, a player may recklessly leave Level 4 with the dungeon's items and stumble upon one of these keys (that is supposed to be used in Level 5) and use it in Level 4. Later on, since the player has completely missed a key in Level 4, he or she may not be able to find it since he or she didn't know that it existed. Avoid this.

Simply put, do not leave a dungeon's overworld area if you are missing a key for a door or lock block. The key IS in the dungeon.

(2)

When you see a pad that has a silhouette of the Lens of Truth, that means that you need the Lens of Truth to be able to cross the area of invisible spikes. Even though it *MAY* be possible to cheat through this area by trial-and-error, please do not do this. I ask that you get the Lens before attempting to pass through. If you somehow manage to cheat through these invisible spikes, you will likely screw up the number of keys you will have and you may not be able to continue. What's the point of playing a quest if you simply cheat your way through? If you do not take my advice, it will be nearly impossible to complete the quest...

------FAQs------
----------------

Q: I can hold only 4 bombs! Is that a mistake?
A: Nope. Four bombs at the beginning, but an upgrade is available after Level 1 and many more after that. Remember that for every four regular bombs you can hold, you can hold one super bomb.

Q: I can't find the sword! Where is it?
A: A woman in the northeast of Narajo will tell you where to get it.

Q: What item triggers this? That?
A: Particular items trigger particular objects. Thus, it's an excellent idea to learn what the arrow triggers, or the boomerang, or other items. Additionally, blocks are pushable only on the cross-thatched floor (or sometimes even sand, ice, or grass). Note that blocks will never be pushed over that red trim (or whatever it is).

Q: What's the importance of the inns?
A: Not only will they replenish your life, but they'll also give you an item.

Q: How long did it take you to make this quest?
A: Approximately two and a half years. I started on July 16, 2005, and submitted the quest on December 9, 2007.

Q: Why can't I blow up a cracked block?
A: There are no bombable BLOCKS in this quest. Something else will trigger the block's disappearance. However, some rock walls in the overworld are bombable, so don't get confused with this. AGAIN: Zero BLOCKS in DUNGEONS are bombable. Please re-read every sentence in this paragraph again.

Q: I played the Ocarina on a note pad and something useless happened. What do I do?
A: Play the Ocarina again. There are times at which you must play the Ocarina multiple times.

Q: How do I get through the "maze within a maze" in Level 3?
A: Note that the man in Narajo Forest gave you the directions, so all you have to do is figure out what path to take. Before tackling this puzzle, study the screen carefully. Try to vision where you will be able to go after you side warp.

------Tips------
----------------

If you think you've run out of places to go in a dungeon, stop and take a look on your map (if you've found it). Obviously, there is one per dungeon. Look for doors you haven't gone through or parts of the dungeon that you have not entered. It might be a bomb wall. If all else fails, I guarantee you have either missed the item or need to find the passageway to get to it.

If the enemies are too tough, you may consider a few things. The boomerang stuns some, the hammer makes Darknuts cake, the Pols Voice (bunnies) are killed with an arrow, and a well-placed bomb can take out an Aquamentus in one hit. Dodongos are killed with one Super Bomb (and obviously two regular bombs) and Digdoggers dislike music.

When you are fighting a boss and you die (or you quit and select Continue), you will respawn in that room. If you wish to leave the boss fight and return to the beginning of the dungeon, you must quit (F6) and select Save.

Buy potions! They replenish life! Potion combining is on, so buying two half-filled bottles will equal one full potion.

Adjust the music volume and/or SFX volume to your liking. You may like the music blasting-loud or extra loud SFX.

Buy information! People are there for a reason. Always listen to them. They may shed some statistics of the game or give you vital information to continue the game. NEVER blow off information sellers, as you are required to know their knowledge at points in the game. It would be a good idea to write it down. Some, of course, give out non-required information.

Again, buy information. Seriously.

Dungeons get much longer and more difficult as you progress. Don't be discouraged if you die. Keep at it and you'll come through. In times of extreme frustration in the Zora's Training Ground, contact me.

You can bring up an overworld map with the spacebar. You can look at all of the screens you've been on with the arrow keys and zoom with A and B. VERY HELPFUL. (You can use different modes of the map while holding down L, R, or both while navigating with the arrow keys.)

In a dungeon, whenever you encounter a large arrow pointing toward an inaccessible bomb door, take note of where this room is. Odds are that when you reach the same wall on the other side, there are no cracks, and you may pass the vital bomb door up.

I suggest that you set your regular screen saver and your ZC screen saver to *at least* 2 minutes (or higher). This is to ensure that your playing experience is optimal.

And most importantly, have fun! I made this game so YOU can have fun. :)

   ------NPCs-----
   ---------------

You can talk to NPCs (non-playable characters) by stepping up to them. However, the only NPCs are in inns' lobbies, Zora's Cave, and the fisherman at Lake Hylia. Though some are unhelpful, others can give out interesting info.

--8.0-----------
----Dungeons----
----------------

There are 9 dungeons in this quest, as well as 3 required mini-dungeons. Spoiler warning (entire section)!

 ~The 9 dungeons:

Level 1 - A plain dungeon. Some vegetation grows and some Stalfos and Goriyas roam the floors.

Level 2 - The Gorons' "rock-producing cave." Dodongos and the such scared off the Gorons, causing a cave-in.

Level 3 - A thickly-vegetated shrine. Ropes, Bats, and Like Likes are aplenty in this wooded dungeon, so always be on your toes.

Level 4 - A very icy dungeon. Located deep within a snowy landscape, water and ice have flooded on the floors, making travel difficult. Vires, Pols Voices, and Zols have been known to reside here.

Level 5 - Filled with water. Being two-floored, travel can get confusing. Zolas (evil Zoras) and Goriyas have been spotted in here. The kind Zoras may be able to help you enter this.

Level 6 - Previously ruled by the "Sand Man," spirits and sand fill the dungeon. Although Leevers and Darknuts roam the grounds in this double-floored dungeon, dangerous sand pits also have erupted by the curse left by the Sand Man. He also might appear somewhere in this tomb...

Level 7 - A rather scary and dank dungeon. Centuries-old blood from the death of soldiers has stained the floors and walls. Though Wizzrobes, Gibdos, and Ghinis all appear here, many puzzles exist that require a sharp wit to solve. Additionally, there are 3 floors.

Level 8 - A tall tower on the clouds. This has a very godly feeling to it, being several stories high. Being very difficult, this is the last stop to completing the Triforce. Don't fall off! Additionally to the main tower, floating catwalks go outside the tower, making this a monstrous, lengthy temple.

Level 9 - No data known.

 ~The mini-dungeons:

Ancient Crypt - A phantom spirit lives here. If it spots you, it will place a curse on you.

Sealed Chamber - A small, though complex cave. It is said the "eye that sees all" is found here.

Palace of Spirits - A compact, somewhat watery palace of many transporters. Try not to get confused by the branching paths!

--9.0-----------
---After Word---
----------------

Well, that should be it, except for the all-important "copyright." ;) I should let you play right now, so go ahead, after these last words. Remember, after you play the quest, to rate it. You don't have to, but I hope you do. Have fun! Don't die (much)!

--10.0----------
---Copyright----
----------------

There is no "official copyright," but I don't allow you to rip any music from my quest. However, if you receive my permission to use it by asking me, you're obviously allowed. But as of now, you are NOT. I repeat, do NOT use the MIDIs in this quest (or even any other quest) for your own quest or any other quest unless you ask me (or the other quest's author).
